The short version: there are no accounts, nothing you type into a calculator is stored, and the only measurement that runs is Google Analytics — which stays switched off until you accept it.
What you type into a calculator
The arithmetic runs on our server, so the values you enter are sent there to be worked out. They are used to produce the answer and nothing else. They are not written to a database — this site has no database — they are not written to a log file, and they are never passed to anyone else.
That means a loan balance, a salary or a set of body measurements is gone the moment the answer comes back. We could not tell you what you calculated yesterday, because we never kept it.
Cookies and local storage
Three things may be set in your browser:
- A currency preference. Set only if you pick a currency in the footer. It stores a three-letter code so amounts show the right symbol on your next visit. Nothing else.
- A session cookie. Standard for the software the site runs on. It carries no personal data and expires when you close the browser.
- Your answer to the cookie banner. Kept in local storage rather than a cookie, so that we do not ask you again on every page.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to see which calculators get used, so we know what to build next. It is governed by Google Consent Mode, and every consent signal starts denied. Until you press Accept, no analytics cookie is set and no identifier is collected.
What we look at is which tool was used, which section it belongs to, and how many times a visitor recalculated before settling. None of that is tied to a name, an account or an email address, because we hold none of those.
If you press Reject, or simply never answer, measurement stays off. You can change your mind by clearing this site's data in your browser, which removes the stored answer and brings the banner back.
Advertising
This site is intended to carry display ads in future, and until it does, no advertising code is loaded at all — no slots, no scripts, nothing requested from an ad network. When ads are switched on, this page will say so before they appear, and the consent banner will cover them.
What we never do
- No accounts, so no names, emails or passwords are held.
- No newsletter, and no email address is ever asked for.
- Nothing you calculate is sold, shared or used to profile you.
- No third-party trackers beyond the analytics described above.
Other sites
Pages here sometimes link out. Once you follow a link you are on someone else's site under someone else's rules, and this page stops applying.
Your rights
Where the UK GDPR or the EU GDPR applies, you have the right to ask what is held about you, to have it corrected or erased, and to object to processing. In practice there is very little to ask for, since the site holds no personal data it could return. If you want to make a request anyway, or you think something here is wrong, get in touch.
Changes
If what the site collects changes — most likely when advertising is switched on — this page changes with it, before the change goes live rather than after.
